Out of an abundance of caution regarding COVID-19, VT LEAP and partner organizations have cancelled most workshops scheduled for 2020. We are watching the situation closely and will reschedule when possible. If you would like to receive enews updates please send an email to [email protected] and ask to be added to the list.

There will be one workshop happening for a limited number of participants this Fall - the Forest Operations Supervisor Workshop.  This workshop is a mandatory part of the Workers' Compensation Safety Program for those interesed in seeking reduced Workers Comp rates.  See information on this workshop under the "Workshops & Events" page on this website.

Be Safe. Be Well.

From the LEAP Team,

Considering joining the VT Logger Education to Advance Professionalism (LEAP) Program?

For those of you who are new to LEAP or those who have not completed the Primary
Curriculum, please read the following:
All LEAP loggers must complete the Primary Curriculum to remain certified:

• Professionalism in Forestry and
• Managing and Using Forest Ecosystems

A requirement for new enrollees in LEAP as of 2020:

• Mechanized Loggers must take the Introduction to Mechanized Logging Safety
and Advanced Logger Safety trainings.
• Non-Mechanized Loggers must take the four levels of the Game of Logging.

These can be split up within two calendar years. If you have taken all four levels
of GOL more than five years ago, then you only need Level 5 (Non-Mechanized
Loggers that would like to qualify their employees for the VT Logger Safety and
Workers’ Compensation Insurance Program need them certified in all four levels
of GOL, or Level 5 if it’s been more than four years since they took 1-4). Contact
David Birdsall to be notified when GOL trainings are planned for 2020.

Thanks and Be Safe!
