Heavy Cut Permits & Hazardous Materials Training

8am to 3:30pm (8 LEAP credits; 6 CFE credits)

This training will cover the Vermont’s heavy cutting law. We will discuss the information necessary to complete an application, as well as cover the permit exemptions, including agricultural conversion and pre-approved management plans. This information will be valuable to loggers and foresters and will help you understand when a permit is necessary, or an exemption is appropriate, and how to navigate that process. We will also cover hazardous materials safety; best practices for cleaning up spills; when to report a spill, and what should be in a spill kit. A Hazardous Spill Response Team member from the Dept. of Environmental Conservation will instruct. All attendees will receive sample spill kits to take back to their job.
